Chris,
As far as I know there never was an all red 501 Wagon. It was with a black chassis which indeed is an export color or it was red with a fawn or pale grey back. The one with the pale grey back is very rare. I bought one direct from the first owner in Honington (UK)some 20 years ago. Perhaps an all red 501 exists as a prototype or color trial?

Not my era for Dinky Toys, still a very much appreciated gift from Dinky collector (and colleague map specialist) Hector Luis Spinelli of Argentina, who came to behold my collection today - besides admiring the Noord-Holland polder landscape, driving my car along fields, ditches, dikes, narrow bridges and windmills:

Kind regards, Jan

What an absolutely outstanding display! It looks like a 1950/1960s Dinky Toy shop - and everything has a little descriptive tag. I can see the Rolls Royce Silver Wraith, the French 551, and two Liverpool 150s, although no doubt you have the red and yellow box for the 150! I am suitably impressed! But just look at all those boxes in the upper right!

Hi Bruce, thanks for your comment. My efforts for the challenging combining of BOTH a pleasant presentation AND optimal conditions for preservation are one of the favourite and rewarding aspects of my Dinky (and other miniatures) hobby! In fact on occasions like these only I see the collection in full (but UV-protected) daylight myself. Kind regards, Jan

Jan is being modest here, I have visited his lovely home a number of times and you are only seeing a small corner of his "Dinky Room" in the photo with Hector Luis.

You have to see it to appreciate just how superb it is.

We seem to have lost my posts and I think one or two posts from other members on my 594 Traffic Lights which I had suggested they be moved from this thread "Dinky of the Day" to the new thread "594 Traffic Lights" that another member had created about 7 September. For some reason, even this new thread has disappeared as attempts to bring this thread up results in a message "An invalid post ID was requested".

What has happened?

As one series of cars deserves to be "Dinky of the day", it should be the Hornby 22 Series Modelled Miniatures.
The Start of a Legend!

Ah Rob you stun me into silence yet again.
Has your Delivery van got bare metal wheels? I'm working on a database of all 22c/d & 28/1/2/3/280 Series variations, and adding a picture of each, so I always like to check.
Cheers
CW.

Thank you so much for posting so many very interesting photos of the Traction..... I got my first Dinky model of it around 1956 when I bought one off of a display where it was wired down. They were wonderful cars and nice to see so many variations of them...... thanks again.....I really enjoyed it!

My Dinky for the day is the last Guy Truck I bought. I believe this color combination is the rarest of the Guy Flat Trucks. I have only seen one other on the website of Dinkyworld.

Kind regards,
Rob

Rob - Very nice for an extremely rare colour scheme. Last one I saw sold through Vectis was back in 2009. This one sold for a four figure sum with no pence! Bruce

Wonderful Rob,
I've never seen that combo on a flat truck either.

Dinky of the day: 36e British Salmson Two-Seater Sports Car with Driver.
It took me a long time to finally find one in good condition at Sandown Park Toyfair. I love the colour combination, so typical for pre war Dinky Toys.

Kind regards,
Rob

Dinky of the day: 39eu Chrysler in yellow and red. Not everybody's cup of tea, but I like this color combination very much.

Kind regards,
Rob

This colour combination has always been my favourite, but as with the US schemes, has always been beyond the reach of my wallet!

Rob--I also like that particular color combo....I think it just looks great on the Chrysler, and that one also looks to be in very nice condition. Many of the ones I see listed seem to be pretty chipped up. Does anyone know if those two-tone versions were the very last of the 39 series produced? I don't remember every seeing a chronology of their production life....we know it was limited for sure.

This finish is not Meccano's idea, there was a cab company in NY runing Chryslers in the same colours.
