Very nice and it looks to be in pretty nice condition. It is quite a model and very heavy...... No aluminum trailer like the earlier English Pullmore version. Congratulations!!

Thank you Terry.
Yes, it is in mint state, but I have the feeling that, or the tyres are not original, or it's not the right box ! I am going to try to clear up this mystery !

Here is another French Dinky Toy, not seen too much, but a very nice little model. That would be #32E, known by its full French name as "Fourgon incendie BERLIET premier secours". It was introduced in 1957, and in 1959 was re-numbered to #583, and finally discontinued in 1963.
Upon close inspection, it is another wonderful Dinky from the 1950's, with a lot of detail. Both sides feature lots of compartment doors, with detailed hand openers, and the rear features detailing similar to the Commer Fire Engine, with all manner of gauges, valves and controls. What is very different are the two detachable fire hose reels mounted on the extreme rear. They are held in place by two small metal spring clips and are easily removable as the pictures below illustrate. The roof mounted ladder also is detachable, but it is a simple affair and does not extend. This model uses the same large, white tires that were first introduced on its brother, the Delahaye Fire Engine.
All in all, another very nice French Dinky, well worth collecting!

July 1957 rear cover of the French Meccano Magazine.

This Dinky was first numbered 37 as writen on the factory drawings but it was issued in July 1957 as 32e. Rnumbered 583 in 1959 it remained in the catalogues until 1963.

I know who owns the wooden mock-up but so far I have not been able to obtain a picture of it.

There are quite a few variations as on many Dinky.

Yes, it is a very nice fire engine.
In the 50's, I remember very well that the parisian firemen were always going on site with three vehicules : a citro

My Dinky of the day is actually a set of sorts....the 30 series of small commercial vehicles that Meccano introduced from 1950-1951. These were meant to replace the aging 25 series, designed pre-war, but still listed in the U.S. catalog for 1952. The post war set is a very nice one, featuring trucks by Austin, Dodge, Fordson, and Studebaker, and all available in many colors. I finally completed my own set this past year with both of the Dodge trucks.........so here they are!

Perfect models, Terry, nice to see. Let's pick out the Dodge as the special model of the day. There are so many variants of this model, both in colours and in state of the die:

Here is the front cover of a Kew Dodge original leaflet:

It shows what a lovely job Dinky made of this vehicles.

I have original leaflets of all the others shown by Terry if people want to see them.

By the way: I guess we have been deviating notably from Jacques' initial intention to memorize in this thread a Dinky model which on a certain day represents a memorable historical fact, and not a model that just comes up in our minds on a certain day! (see Jacques' obvious choice for the Superior Criterion Ambulance on the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's assassination). Regards, Jan

Sorry.....I guess I did not know it was to celebrate special occasions......will not post any more to this thread. I would go back and delete, but do not not know how to....anyone know how to delete a post with pictures???

Yes Jan, this was my intention but some people thought that this thread is for the Dinky That they received to day.

I would like to suggest that the moderator delete all of the posts except Jacques initial one, then the thread can be correct. And I would like to again ask why an original poster cannot delete his own posting? Then we could easily correct situations like this.

and that ones yesterday !

If I am wrong, I will not post anymore my new items of the day.
It will be funny and interesting to open a new thread for that.

Magazine of the day,

This is the very first advertissement with the two magic words DINKY TOYS. It was published on page 332 of the April 1934 issue of the Meccano Magazine. Note that there are already 80 varieties but of course almost all of them are ex Hornby modelled miniatures except the MG Magic Midget and the GWR railcar.

Yes Jacques, Dinky Toys are getting 80 next month. Some of them are still looking pretty handsome today, many others have gone a long time ago due to fatigue.
At the same time it is 5 years ago this month that we were mounting the 75th anniversary exhibition in Derby!

Here you are, busy arranging the French Dinky Toys, with Jacques H and wife on the left.
Kind regards, Jan

And very sadly absolutely nothing has been arranged for the 80th Anniversary

Yes David, I know but we will all be there for the 100th anniversary. Perhaps in wheel chairs.

Atlas France is issuing a special model for the event :

33aj - Fourgon Simca Cargo "DINKY TOYS".

If you want one please contact me.

The model was supposed to be delivered now but it is delayed by one month.

Jan,

There are better photos of me, this one mainly shows that both Jacques have little hair left.

No problem: we are making plans for the 100th Anniversary and see the evolution of our hair count...

Jacques's, don't mind the (shortage of) hair, the photo is all about the Dinky Toys!
Dave, I have never seen 80 as a kind of jubilee, besides the fact that I have had no time at all in the past year for even thinking of such an event. But whenever anyone feels the urge to celebrate whatever Dinky jubilee, you can count me in. Lots of time for that in the near future!
By the way, the Dutch NAMAC will celebrate their 50th anniversary next year, with exhibition contributions by members interested to do so. The place is the marvellous Louwman automobile museum in The Hague. I will certainly contribute, but we might also consider a joint DTCA guest contribution!
Perhaps something to discuss at the next AGM.

The reality is that an awful lot of us are now of 'a certain age'.

I do not expect to be around for the 100th anniversary, so I think this is an opportunity missed.

You are 100% right, Dave. But there is no need to wait for a "round" Anniversary to organise the next exhibition. The problem is to find somebody who is ready to face the challenge and set up such an event...As such, the Derby's 75th was a great success thanks to the full implication of a few very talented colleagues, including you, as well as the very friendly cooperation of the Silk Museum, which, sadly closed down since.

Both celebrate their 60th birthday this month!

Another March Dinky Toy, No. 261 Telephone Service Van came out in March 1956. Definitely a favourite of mine. Unlike Meccano Magazine, I didn't have to resort to making a card telephone box!

I adore the voting van, it's a lovely update of the old 28 based Loudspeaker van, but isn't the phrase "Vote for somebody" awful? I understand Dinky had to be neutral in this, but something like "Don't forget to vote" or "Vote Today!" would have surely been better?
