Foden 622

Hello everyone,
I just started to collect military Dinky Toys; old and new, British, French and USA.
What I intend to do, is to try to find out the story of the real vehicles; manufacture's information, photo's etc. Now I cannot find anything on the Foden 622. Has this truck been in the army at all?
Please help me finding more info on military vehicles in general and specially the Foden 622.

Sjoerd, I'm sorry that this reply comes so late - I only just found your request. The prototype of the Dinky 622 was one of a very small number submitted by Fodens for trials with the Ministry of Defence to meet a requirement for a 10-ton 6x4 General Service lorry, but they were not adopted for Army use. The order was split between Leyland and AEC .

Incidentally, there are some casting differences in the Dinky version, the most obvious being the change of wording underneath from "Dinky Toys" to "Dinky Supertoys", and the addition of three ribs along the cab roof. A driver was also fitted in later models.
