Congratulations Dave, a glorious moment!
Kind regards, Jan
Dave--Congratulations on getting it complete and into the marketplace. I haven't checked the website yet, but was wondering if it is possible to order a copy signed by you....that would be pretty special. When I bought my Great Book of Dinky Toys years ago, a chap I knew in England had it signed to me by both Mike and Sue Richardson, so I would be honored if you could do the same.
Terry
Thanks Terry
Of course I will sign it, I would be honoured to.

Hello Dave,
How did the book launch go? Did you get any feedback yet?
Kind regards, Stfan
Hi Stfan
The launch went very well indeed and the sales were good. All the feedback so far has been positive.
A number of people were hoping to find items from the 1970s which was way past my era so they are not in the book, other than that everyone seemed happy.
I had a very good chat with your mother, a really nice lady, I am sure I will meet up with your mum and dad in the future at a toyfair somewhere.
Dave
Dave--I just received my copy in the mail yesterday, and can say I am thoroughly impressed with your effort! I immediately sat down and spent a couple of hours slowly going through it, page by page. For those of you who have not seen it yet, it is a photo collection of post-war Dinky's from Binn's Road through about 1960.....what many of us consider to be the "Golden Age" of Dinky Toys. The photos are high resolution, large format, with superb color rendition, and the models shown are either mint or like new. Just beautiful and he has captured the unique charm of these wonderful little toys from our childhood so well. I would certainly recommend it to any serious Dinky collector or fan.
My only question Dave concerns the 1st series or version of the Foden's; the earliest dates listed show the later versions only, with only one photo of an earlier tanker. Just curious why the earlier ones were left out?
Terry
Hi Terry
Many thanks for your kind remarks about the book they really are appreciated.
With regards to the models that appear in the book it really was down to what I had in my collection and what Graham had in his. I did not want to be travelling all round the country to find examples which we did not have. It was purely down to logistics at the end of the day. This is why the Fodens were what appear in the book, I sincerely hope that did not distract from your pleasure.
Since I completed the book I have continued to add to my collection and it is possible that there may be a 'Volume 2' at some stage.
The nice thing is that the book has sold very well so far and it does look like it will sell out.
Once again thanks for you lovely feedback
Dave
Dave--Thanks for explaining, and no, it did not really detract from the viewing pleasure....I was just more curious as to why. The existing photos are so stunning and enjoyable to look at.... a few omissions are understandable! If you ever do a volume 2, I would be glad to take some high quality photos of any Dinky's I might have for your use.......just let me know.
Terry
Hello Dave
I am still waiting to see mine, I may receive it tomorrow (my birthday) or I may receive it at Christmas. I'm looking forward to sitting down with it & a glass of beer.
Kind regards, Stfan
David,
Your book looks very good and knowing you, I am sure that it is.
Before you run out, please put one aside for me for delivery at the next AGM.
All the best.
Jacques.
There is one set aside for you Jacques.
Dave
Looks like the Dinky book is my Christmas gift, my wife gave me the huge Taschen Da Vinci book for my birthday & I'm definately not complaining!
Kind regards, Stfan
For anybody that has not taken the plunge in purchasing this book, I can highly recommend its content. An excellent gift from my wife & I have not put it down since the 25th.
Well done! Stfan
Ps: Dave Fired off an e-mail to your
Half of the books have now been sold within the first 6 weeks, if I maintain the same momentum they will be all gone by Easter.
