Hello everybody.
No sooner said than done.
2 references for this toy :140B and 156.
Here are mine :
At least 3 different variants :
1)base plate with big letters, without reference number, smooth inside roof and smooth tyres.(on the photo, it's the brown/red body and hubs)
2)same base plate but there is a fillet crossing the inside roof. (on the photo, it is the cream body and hubs)
3)same base plate but there is "Rover 75" carved on the inside roof and a fillet is crossing it by the middle.(on the photo it's the brown/red body with red hubs and the Cream body with the blue hubs)
4)Same base plate but with the reference 156 and same inside roof. Smooth or grooved tyres. It seems that's for all the two-tones.
If somebody has other informations.... thank you.
Goog week-end to everybody.
Richard
Here is a photo showing the variation of the light green on the two-tones item.
The light green on the left is almost more blue than green.
Cheers
Wonderful Richard, thank you! At least four more I need then, I had no idea there were shade variations on the two tone green, there's a violet blue shade on the blue / cream too isn't there?
Chris Warr.

Here is the photo. I hope that I will find another one soon.
Richard

Hi all, my only lonely no. 140b Rover 75 Saloon here:
I thought it could well use some company, so here he is with his 1951 companion no. 140a Austin Atlantic Convertible:
1951 was a horrible year as new introductions of Dinky Toys are concerned. Both the high price of zamak (due to the Korean War) and the lack of production capacity (Speke was to be opened as late as 1953) were prohibitive. Below the couple featuring for the first time in the (Dutch) 1951 Dinky Toys catalogue.
Kind regards, Jan
Hi Jan,
Now, that Austin Atlantic, loads of variations on that one, body / interior / hubs colours galore.
I've got five different, and still got three more I know of to get, anybody want to start an Atlantic thread to post up some variations?
Chris Warr.
