Toy Shops

Here are some addresses of toy shops that supplied Dinkys and other Meccano products according to that which is printed on some of my catalogues:- W.E. Birkhead & Son ltd, 24 Church Street, Walton on Thames (1961) G.H. Neale & Sons Ltd, 71 Southgate, Sleaford (1956) J and E Jones, 1615 London Road, Leigh on Sea (1961) Bassett-Lowke Ltd, 28 Corporation Street, Manchester (1954) (Curious!?) Mike 204

Mike, perhaps you can provide me with an answer. Very recently I saw a post (that I presume was on this forum) about providing names and addresses of Dinky suppliers, as seen on Dinky catalogues. Since then I've searched to find the thread again but to no avail.

All I can contribute is one name and, since your thread seems as good a place as any to add it, that's what I'll do but tell me, what prompted you to contribute your list? Was it the post that I've been looking for?

For what it's worth, from a catalogue of 1st September 1954, the supplier was:

THE MODEL AIRPORT

51 COLSTON STREET

BRISTOL 1

Toys, Games and Sports.

I saw a request from the Editor of the Journal in the latest issue - that was all!

Bong! Of course, the Journal! I sometimes wonder about my memory. Well, we've done our bit.

Thanks Mike.

As long as we have this thread I shall add any toy shop addresses as they turn up.

This catalogue, which I recently purchased, is nothing new to the forum but it's a very clean example and offers us this dealer's details on the cover:

FRANK GALE & SONS LTD.

132-3 FRIAR STREET

READING

[BERKSHIRE]

Tel. 2482

Does anyone remember this shop?
