PKZ swiss promotional

I don't know where to put this on the forum, so i chose this one.

Last week is bought this red 450 Trojan van from a dutch seller.

It has a PKZ logo on both sides at the spot where normally an ESSO logo is seen.

PKZ stands for Paul Kehl Zurich which is a clothing company from Switzerland.

There are some britisch and french dinky toys that can be found with this logo, but they are rare.

I think they where given away as presents, but i can't find any information about this.

When where they made? (probably late 50's)

How many of them?

I included a picture of all my Trojans for comparison.

It would appear to be a standard Esso version with new transfers applied directly over the oval "Esso" logo, most likely by PKZ themselves at the time.If Meccano's order books have survived, it may be possible to trace a quantity order to PKZ, unless they obtained them via the Swiss importer, or simply sent one of their staff to buy a number of them from toyshops for conversion in-house.

Searching the internet i found some sold by Vectis. In one of these texts it is mentioned that these where given away when a suit was bought at these PKZ stores.

If you search on Vectis with the text Dinky PKZ, you will find 16 promotional Dinky Toys models with the PKZ decal, of which 9 are different British and French DinkyToys. So it was not a one-off release, but apparently issued as several promotional Dinky Toys models. Indeed, probably just bought as a normal model and a PKZ decal stuck on it. There is also no promotional PKZ box to find.

So far, I have lised 18 PKZ models with a photo of them but there may be more. The list is below.

Sixteen of them were available at the same time between 1959 and 1967 but the Ford Corsair and the BRM were available between 1967 and 1969 only.

There does not seem to be any logic in the selection of the models so instead of buying these Dinky from the local importer or the nearby toy shop, I think that these may be the stock of the next door toy shop which closed down. The Corsair and the B.R.M. remain a mystery.

More of these code 3 models may come up.
