New additions

Just won this lot of 1960's -1970's released Dinky off our local auction site. This is one of the original auction photo's, I'll pick up over the weekend, a couple of missing flaps and cracked plastic cases, but plenty here which will fill spaces in my collection?

Thanks Richard

Close ups of this lot and a few other lots I have purchased lately are at the link below, feel free to scroll through. Mostly original with a few repainted and Atlas thrown in for good measure.

Cheers

Dave

Hi all, three additions of late, all British and all later, 1960s issued versions of 1950s items I had already.

1. The final mid-1960s issue of the 1955 no. 972 Coles 20-Ton Lorry Mounted Crane.

2. A later casting variant of the no. 290 red with cream Double Decker Bus.

3. The later issue of no. 239 Vanwall Racing Car, with yellow driver.

Some comparative pictures below. I may dive deeper into these later, in their respective theads.

Kind regards, Jan

Jan---Very nice additions to your previous models. It is always interesting to see what Meccano decided to change as part of the evolution process; some changes made sense or just looked different, others sometimes seemed a step backwards. The 20 Ton Coles Crane is interesting.....it appears that at some point in time they deleted the poor crane operator, leaving the driver alone. Is that a miniscule cost saving measure? Regarding the double deck buses, always nice to see so many casting and other variations. I noticed in our new issue of the Journal, the enclosed sheet showing members' sales & wants, it mentioned that Nelson Twells & Roger Bailey are close to finishing their upcoming book on "Dinky Toy Bus Colour Variations". I will be anxious to see and possibly purchase that. I am hoping that it also goes into the many variations and timeline of the Double Deck buses.
Regards, Terry
