Meccano model of Dinky Toys #930

I'm a subscriber to the Meccano 'Spanner' email group, a modeller recently posted the following picture of a Meccano modelled #930 Bedford Pallet Jekta Van.
With his permission I include a picture here for your enjoyment, I hope you will agree it is a lovely model and very much like the Dinky Toys version.
Further details and photographs can be found on the model and modeller Alan Esplen here:

Hi Stuart

That looks great, do you know if it works with some Meccano pallets like the Dinky Vehicle?

Dave
Glad you liked it, I beleive it does have working pallet platforms driven by a small motor, the model page on Alan's email gives a better description and further pictures.

Hello Stuart and others, in the Dinky Wiki section > Dinky manufacturing and die-casting > The Dinky Toys Road from Design to Toyshop, you will find a photo of the real one!

Kind regards, Jan Werner

Just looked at Alans Meccano website - a brilliant read and very interesting. Thanks Stuart for the intro.

I agree. It would be nice to see - like the Pallet Jekta Van and the Hindle Smart Artic - more actually Meccano built examples of Dinky Toys, the ones so often seen in advertisements and Meccano instruction manuals.

Kind regards, Jan Werner

The builder of this lovely model Jekta has asked that I share an update to the link for this model as the link provided in my original post is now obsolete.

Hi Jacques, here is the 'real one', although not conform the instructions above.

I happened to find it on the internet with the following details:

Photo by Greg Webb of a Meccano Bedford Dinky Pullmore Car Transporter, by Roger Marriott, 2009.

And this one on the French Meccano catalogue of 1956 will be familiar to you:

Kind regards, Jan
