There was a collection being sold through eBay about two months ago. If still interested, I could search for the auction.

Sadly GR passed away about 6 months ago. We lost an absolute guru on aeroplanes and a really nice guy.

Thanks Dave - I did not twig that GR Webster was The GR Webster. You are right, he had a marvellous collection which I hope will remain intact and go to some deserving place.

By the way: GR's collection will not remain intact, because he sold a considerable part of it himself, a few years ago!

Although I had heard that what GR sold himself was "just the tip of the iceberg". We all will have to face that decision one way or other. I am currently thinking what has to be done with my 700+ models and a "mountain" of ephemera!
By the way, years ago when I was writing Dinky News, I was reliably told of an elderly gentleman in Newcastle (north of Sydney in NSW) who so loved his Dinky Toys he had as a child that he had them buried with him! I never found out his name or which cemetery though!

That would probably make an interesting discussion item here: what to do with our respective collections after we pass on. I'm probably not unique in stating that no one in my family has the slightest interest in my Dinky Toys, except a couple of young granddaughters, and I fear that is fleeting. Of course, most of these collections are sold by heirs I assume, which to me is kind of sad, as many of our collections have several themes or specific areas of interest. I would think selling would almost inevitably break up these wonderful collections into pieces, thereby losing some of the specialness that was there. Has anyone ever thought of establishing some sort of Dinky Toys Museum, that could be open for display? That could be an avenue for some folks to consider donating all or part of their collection intact in a proper setting. Same for all of the ephemera.....think what a repository could be had after a number of years. Of course, a huge problem would be where is a suitable structure, and how would it be acquired? In the States, their is now a Model A Ford Museum, just like this, that now houses various samples of old cars that have been donated, along with accessories, etc.
What do others think?
