David Busfield

David, who was a regular contributor to the journal and website and a participant in the club activities, died yesterday, Sunday 22nd October.    As Jan posted earlier, this happened very suddenly.   I'm told that he suffered a fatal heart attack while out on an autumn walk, photographing the local woods.  He was found immediately and an attempt to resuscitate was made, but unfortunately unsuccessfully.   I don't have any more information to go with this sad news at the moment.

Because this only happened yesterday, I assume no arrangements have been made yet.

This is very upsetting news and frankly hard to absorb. We have lost a major figure in the Dinky collecting community. Most of us have known for years of Dave's excellent articles for the Journal and other publications, his photography, and his work supporting the DTCA and HRCA.

More recently, Dave befriended myself, Terry, Ravi and other Transatlantic collectors who never got to meet him in person but enjoyed his spirited company in Zoom teleconferences this year. Our last conference was on the evening of Saturday the 21st, when Dave spoke about topics including an article on the Volvo estate he had recently completed for the Journal, as well as some Dinky price lists from the U.S.A. that he had recently acquired and was going to photograph for us. He sounded as energetic as ever and there was no sign of what was to happen.

This is a great loss both for his family and for our community. He will be remembered.

For those who did not know it, Dave's photostream, updated to the last, is at https://www.flickr.com/photos/buzzer999/.

I'm shocked and sad to hear this news. Dave was such a nice guy and a prolific collector and author. A few of us were having a delightful Zoom chat only a few hours before he passed. My condolences to his family and friends. RIP Dave. You are much missed.

I am also very shocked by this sudden loss of David. I always enjoyed his knowledgeable and educational articles about Dinky Toys that were made with passion, with beautiful photos, often with beautiful dioramas. A great loss for our DTCA community. My condolences to his family and friends.

I to am shocked to hear the passing of David, only met him a few times but read all his articles, which always added to my knowledge. He seemed to be interested in similiar models as myself. A great loss to the DTCA community
I also add my condolences to his family and friends.
