Just arrived in Noord-Holland ...

My newest photobook in print. And I am very happy with the result. The corona restrictions gave a boost to my private production at home, resulting in three printed Dinky books within four months. The new big one (30 x 30 cms) on the right, the mini booklet (10 x 15 cms) of 2020 additions in front, the catalogue Supplement 2020 in front on the left. In the background in the middle the large 30 x 30 cms 2017 version and on the left 'My Dinky Toys World' compiled in 2009.

Jan, with so many issues, should I return it to the DTCA? (I think not ... postage costs these days are ruinous!)

I wonder if replica knobbly tires are available these days?

Jan--The DTCA apparently has good intentions with these replicas, but often falls a bit short in execution.  The 38 series Triumph Dolomite replica issued several years ago, also fell short in many areas, the worst of which was adding a front bumper....which never appeared on any of the 38 series of cars.  They also used smooth wheels instead of ridged, and the headlights were mounted much too high.  To me, it was an awkward model.

That's funny, so it is the DTCA replica! I could fully agree with the one in the picture under the 'Club News' header, but apparently that is one of the very few originals in existence. Perhaps I am a bit too purist in these matters .... Kind regards, Jan 

Recent additions also include this trio, consisting of a boxed 40j (replacing an unboxed 40j) Austin Somerset, the Citroen 2CV, a longtime omission in the French 24 series cars range, and a no. 62y Giant High Speed Monoplane, a companion to and fantasy post-war version of the pre-war no. 62n Junkers Ju90 Airliner. The cars very fine but rather expensive, the aeroplane a really nice bargain in very good condition. A quick photo in sunset light. 

I did not really expect another four-Dinky day, but these arrived today ...

New: a festival of scales, on land, at sea and in the air!

The French Dinky no. 506 Aston Martin DB3 sport (1/45) is the new companion to my British example.

The ship model is the whale factory ship Tri-ang Minic M733 T.S.S. Vikingen (1/1200), a recent addition, the arrival of which the accompanying whaler couple have been waiting for some 55 years already (they were small and cheap enough to buy from my meagre pocket money in those days).

The aircraft is the Dinky no. 60w Flying Boat (c.1/220), the all-blue toy version of the more realistic pre-war 'Clipper III' Flying Boat. 

New this week ...

At last ... six both splendid and affordable models, for which I have been waiting and searching so long. Four from a friend and fellow-DTCA member, whom I sent my actual wants list a fortnight ago, one from a Dutch collector and one from a French vendor. Very happy!!! 

Jan--Such nice additions, and I am so glad you are finally experiencing more of the 1950's French produced classics, especially the 24v Buick Roadmaster.  I will look forward to your review of this splendid model.....congrats!

Thanks Terry, you know I have been looking out for these models for such a long time. And for your favourite, the Buick Roadmaster, in particular! It may be easy to buy them for a lot of money, but I am always waiting for the cheapest one to come by. And that takes a lot of time ...

A nice black French no. 24s Simca 8 sport will be the companion to my grey one from now on.

Moreover, I found a rather unusual French September 1956 catalogue supplement. It updates the April 1956 issue to 'September level'. 

UK prices have risen dramatically since 1 July. So, as for these additions,  I'm afraid I will have to rely more and more on cheaper Dutch, French, German etc. sellers.

A few more arrivals. I had been unaware of this colour for the Panhard, which seems hard to find. (Did any other French Dinky Toys have the tower logo on the box?) As for the GMC military lorry, it came with a reproduction box (disclosed by the seller), and I am a bit dubious about the decals.

Thank you for that! My boxes are stored away, so I was reluctant to go fishing around to see for myself.

As you are probably aware, the Panhard, Citroen, and the 516 Mercedes SL were imported to Britain and the U.S. in the horrible Visi-Pac boxes. The boxes for the Panhard and Citroen were marked not only "printed in England" but also "a Meccano product, made in England" -- I think that's probably true for the Mercedes as well, though the only picture I have of that one is not of sufficient resolution for me to be sure!

The transfers on your GMC seem to be right although they are not positionned correctly.

The yellow Visi-Pack for the Mercedes is also printed with "a Meccano product, made in England"

There must be several boxes with the Eiffel tower but there is no list of them yet.

Haven't been onto this website for quite a while now, due mainly to me spending a lot of time, beneath large lights and a flock of people wearing gowns, masks and rubber gloves hovering!

However, I did something I thought I had given up on doing - buying more Dinky Toys! Shame on me! Please don't tell The Wife!

Actually the cause was an auction conducted by a company here in Australia with one particular model that caught my eye. Of course, I eventually won it, together with quite a few others, just to keep my bidding finger in action!

Anyway, the model was a Rover 75 in cream with highly unusual red hubs. Has anyone seen one of these beasts before, as I could not find it in my Ramsays. Haven't checked the Richardson's books as they have all been packed away.
