Dan-Toys Dinky Guy Vans

As mentioned by Mike Forbes in the October #59 issue of the DTCA Journal, Dan-Toys have a new range Dinky Guy van reproduction models.  I bought mine direct from the dan website for a discount and free postage deal, which works out at just under £24 for each van.

The six original dinky paint schemes are available with a seventh innovative Heinz Ketchup version.

All the castings take after the type-2 guy chassis with the reinforced bumper, and there is also some minor strategic reinforcement of the door sills and hinge brackets.

Like other chinese copies, the paintwork is immaculate.  The transfers are perfect and, for the most part, faithful recreations.  Perhaps the Ever Ready badge looks somewhat altered, but it is still quite plausible since the makers have opted to imitate original fonts rather than substitute similar modern alternatives  (looking at you, Atlas).

To the same order I added a Dan copy of the Dinky 536 Peugeot 404 - but a copy in white.  This was about £18 and it's really nice.  Has suspension and the little skis on the roof and everything.

Now I know some of our members have their reservations about all these oriental copies becoming available, but I have to say I think it's awesome that there's a high street toy shop where you can buy what are essentially dinky toys straight off the shelves.
