-105c and 383 4-Wheel Hand Truck (1949-1958)

A peculiar box. The name is not "4 -  wheel hand truck" but "Garden truck".

Just found out that the Dinky Toy Job List Index, on which the assy's of the second half 1940s introduced models were registered for the first time, uses a very close equivalent for this model's name: 'Garden Trolley'.

For the record I add a picture of the later, ca. 1954 dual numbered trade box, with the familiar name for this 'garden implement'. Kind regards, Jan

Jan—-Very interesting, and what a quaint name! By the way, is the extension ladder listed the one atop the Fire Engine? Don’t remember seeing it listed separately before.
Best regards, Terry

Hello Terry, that concerns the proposed Extension Ladder (no. 105d?) the Richardsons are mentioning in DT&MM, page 248 and shown in some drawing details at page 256. I will create a new topic for this model and show the full drawings set + picture of the mock-up. Kind regards, Jan

Jan—Thanks....apparently that was being considered another separate play item? I hadn’t of it before...will look forward to your new thread.
And I wanted to wish you and your family a very Merry & Joyous Christmas!
Best regards,
Terry

The title of this proposed item is somewhat misleading - "extension ladder" does indeed suggest that it is an addition to an existing item, such as the fire engine ladder. As it is a complete new model, the name "EXTENDING ladder" would surely have been more appropriate.

I agree, but I cannot change history [laugh]. By the way: the original drawing is now available for reference in the Meccano Business Archive, Merseyside Maritime Museum.
