-355 Lunar Roving Vehicle (1972-75)

Hello all,

I doubt that any one of you has this model but one never knows.

What I am looking for is the size of the figures.

I did not find information about the size of the figures, but this site is very informative about this model and related Dinkys.

And why not collect it? Unlike some later Dinky creations, it is an actual model of a real vehicle!

Interesting site! I see my photo of the LRV display in Liverpool is incuded too! It was during the 1901-2001 Meccano century exhibition over there, in 2001. It was both in the National Maritime Museum and the Museum of Liverpool Life (now Museum of Liverpool). I have dug up my photo with colour trials and drawing of the astronaute driver once more, and cut it into some sections for details and the legend. The quality of this analogue print is horrible in our present digital eyes. Kind regards, Jan

Johnny and Jan,

Thank you for your answers. It seems that these figures were made in three different sizes. The large white one for the Dinky rover, a green and a red one used with cheap Meccano Models. The Honest John missile used with the 665 launcher has also been used on Meccano models and a planed resin mock-up. I am trying to sort all this out but as for medical reasons I have had to sell all my collection except one code 3, I have to relay on information provided by good friends and various web sites.

I will contact Mathews who runs the dinkytvspace.com web siite, an other Dutch collector.

When measuring with a caliper and rotating the figure, the biggest dimension on my example is exactly 52.3 mm. When measuring with the caliper flat on the soles, the dimension is 47.3 mm to the back of the helmet.
