I have just acquired a second example of 140 Morris 1100, and noticed three slight differences between them The first and most obvious is that one has a glossy black baseplate, the other matt. The one with the matt base is a slightly deeper shade of blue, not readily apparent in the photograph, but consistent underneath the car as well, so not due to fading. This one also has pronounced casting lines on front and rear wings, indicating die wear and therefore that this is a later model than the gloss base version.
Kevin.
In my copy of the Dinky Toys Encyclopedia it was stated that this is the first Dinky made to 1:42 scale. Not so, as comparing the length of the model with that of the real car shows that it is 1:43 scale.
