Interesting Combinations (cont...)

The couple pictured as an interesting combination below has a partly common and partly separated history. The French no. 532 Lincoln Premiere and no. 545 Desoto Diplomat were Sint Nicolaas presents of 5 December 1962 (53 years ago this week!) for my brother and me respectively. French Dinkies were our undisputed favourites in those days and we played a lot with them. They went out and in the boxes after play and we were rather careful with them. We also made a lot of plastic construction kits some years later, and my brother gave the Lincoln a new paint layer with the plenty of paint available in our house. This was not a great success and when my brother  transferred all his Dinkies to me I put this ugly repaint in a drawer ... until last year when a Dutch Dinky colleague and very good restorer offered me to give the Lincoln back its former glory and the result is seen below. As a reward I gave him one of my calendars and we were both very happy with this 'deal'. Now it is in my displays again, next to the Desoto. I showed it to my brother not long ago and he was pleasantly surprised too with this long time 'deja vue' from our childhood years. Charming little detail are our names written on the boxes, by our father in order to remember which one was for whom! Kind regards, Jan

Jan--What a special story and remembrance with your brother, and all due to beloved Dinky Toys in our youth.  Models that have that connection will always be a special part of your life, and it is wonderful to honor that memory in such a way....great use of the "combination" grouping!

             Regards,  Terry

Dinky made many Esso models over the years, so here is a small assembly making for a nice combination of Esso vehicles; the Panhard Tanker, the French Ford Tanker, and the Trojan van.

                Best regards,  Terry

The best combination I can think of at this moment of the year: Major Acquisitions of 2015.

Merry Christmas and kind regards, Jan

Jan---What lovely and important additions you have made this past year, and such an interesting variety of Dinky models, covering a broad range. I am sure you must be very happy with such great additions to your collection.
Best regards, Terry

An interesting combination with tailboard and colour scheme match: no. 513 Guy Flat Truck with Tailboard and no. 903 Foden Flat Truck with Tailboard in blue with orange. Kind regards, Jan

Three obvious French combinations:

Dear Jan,

Many thanks for posting these nice sets of French Dinky but it is not allowed to reverse a tank on the carrier. One can only get on forward.

All the best.

Dear Jacques, thank you for your corrective comment. I immediately had a talk with the tank driver, urging him to improve his behaviour!

Kind regards, Jan

Jan--Geat combinations, and amazing how Meccano shared paint schemes between the Foden and Guy trucks.  Here is another one.....

Using the same paint for several models allows to reach the minimum ordering amount and / or to reach a cheaper price. Of course, Richard is our expert in paints, he will probably give you his own answer.

By the way, Jacques, I just checked the factory drawing (published by Vincent Espinasse) for the Berliet Tank Transporter, to conclude that the glimpse of the Tank on top (in outline) shows it looking backwards! Do you know why? Kind regards, Jan

Hello Jan,

I have a scan of this drawing, I doubt of it's autenticity as all the drawings which were sold at the same time. I suppose that the guy who made this drawing has not driven a tank on a tank transporter and does not know how difficult it is to center it on the trailer. You can not put your head out of the window and look where your caterpillars are.
This mistake may be an evidence to prove that these drawinks are fakes.
