-127 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III (1964-72)

I would be interested to hear any opinions or information on the following two items I have in my collection:
Silver Cloud III in metallic red. this one caught my eye due to the B reg numberplates (usually they are G - K reg on this colour scheme. Further investigation showed it to have the earlier base with no holes to fix to the plastic plinth, and no "UK" on the patent number. The doors and bonnet are painted gold inside - I have seen several Dinkies where parts have been overpainted in this way. However, the strangest thing is that the interior seems to have been painted cream over the original orange plastic. The rivet looks original, and I certainly couldn't persuade the base to come off with a bit of pull.

The trim on the sidelights and rear lights is the same style as used on the gold and turquoise versions, not like the other red versions I have seen.

Where the paint has chipped, the shiny undercoat remains visible on the doors and bonnet, but appears to have chipped off with the top coat on the bodyshell.

The second is a Ford Escort. This is finished in white, which is listed in Ramsays but doesn't seem to appear often. Unlike other Escorts I have seen, the base is painted in the body colour instead of left plated. Because of this, the bumpers have been painted silver. Of course, being one of those items which screws together, it is easy to take these apart to repaint, although the general "feel" of the paintwork matches my blue example well. It came with the remains of a shiny gold box, and the seller claimed that the toy had been given away at a dinner.

Hi Fred!
Didn't know you were over here too.
Not much help on the Roller, but the Escort could be an Action Kit that's been made up and boxed as a giveaway, the only white Escorts I've seen still have the bare metal baseplate showing along the sides and arches.
Cheers Mate,
Chris Warr.

Hi Chris, thanks for your reply. I'm on several different forums, although I haven't posted much here yet.

The Action Kits were early 70s, so I think they would have later style wheels, and certainly newer numberplates, although things like this can be swapped of course. I did find a picture online of another white Escort with painted base, although there was no info to go with it. With its screw construction it is probably impossible to be sure whether the paint was applied by Dinky or not, but it certainly matches my blue example well in finish (apart from that base). Has anyone seen similar gold boxes to this one? Of course, it wouldn't be too hard to make this either.

Whatever the story, the Escort looks nice in white and didn't cost an outrageous amount of money, so I'm happy with it. Of course, it would be nice if anyone can shed any light regarding the likelihood (or otherwise) of the story that it was given away at a dinner.
